Tottenham Need To Throw Money at Christian Eriksen Next Summer

Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their season in a very spursy way. What do I mean by that? Well, they conceded early and were behind for the majority of the game. Spurs didn't draw even until Tanguy Ndombele scored in the 73rd minute followed by a Harry Kane brace. Final score; 3-1 Spurs. So what happened to propel Spurs to victory? It's simple: Christian Eriksen.

Christian Eriksen is one of Tottenham's most important pieces. The attacking midfielder from Denmark is one of the best-attacking midfielders on the planet. The quality he brings to the table for Spurs is priceless. Nonetheless, the Danish international has been pushing for an exit. Something that will have a devastating impact at White Hart Lane.

When Christian Eriksen came on for Harry Winks on Saturday, Tottenham looked like a different team. Eriksen immediately began to facilitate play and build attack after attack. At the beginning of the game, Spurs would dominate possession and sling the ball around Aston Villa's box but very little would come of it and Tottenham appeared to be a bit stagnant.

So I have a hunch. Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino, sat Eriksen, solely to make a point. A few points. The first one being that since Eriksen has been pushing for an exit, Poch sat him to make a point. Secondly, I think he sat Eriksen because he wanted everyone to see just how valuable he is to the club.

Spurs were indeed a different team with him on the pitch. And with no Dele Alli or Son Heung-Min in the squad against Villa, Eriksen's influence was even more apparent.

So what's the future hold for Christian Eriksen? Or more importantly, what does the future hold for Tottenham Hotspur? Poch benching Eriksen and putting him to lead Tottenham back from a 1-0 deficit should have been all people needed to see.

Spurs need to throw a boat-load of money at Eriksen next summer. Why? Because he's a franchise player and you don't let franchise players leave on frees (unless you're Arsenal hehe).

Even so, will Spurs be willing to do that? They have a handful of spectacular midfielders not to mention they just brought in Giovani Lo Celso as well. Even so, none of the players on the roster are quite like Christian Eriksen. And it will be extremely exciting to see how his future pans out.

Against Aston Villa, the entire planet got to see just how important Eriksen is to Tottenham Hotspur. The question is, does Tottenham see it?
